Parker is 8 weeks old today. Does 8 weeks = 2 months or is he 2 months on the 17th??? I always count the actual date...not the week. But whatever.
Yes, 8 weeks old and his first trip to the "after hours" dr.
He woke this a.m. happy as a clam. Ate. Pooped. What's not to be happy about right?
I sat and played with him for a sec. and then the smell of the poopy diaper overtook me and i had to get up and throw that thing away. as i was tossing that puppy in the trash can he started SCREAMING!!! i ran in the room and he was just laying there where i had left him but freaking out. the cat was still in her room so she hadn't scratched him or anything and there was nothing around him that could've hurt him. he was just screaming crying. so i figured he probably had scratched himself in the face as he often does with those flailing arms of his. but i didn't see anything. even when i picked him up he wouldn't stop crying. he finally calmed down a bit and i noticed he wouldn't open his eyes. i thought then he probably had poked himself in the little eyeball. he fell asleep pretty quickly after that and stayed asleep most of the a.m. waking up briefly to scream his little heart out and never opening his eyes. so i got more concerned. we had a tball game and i sat in the truck w/ him the whole time because he was so fussy. afterwards we drove straight to the dr. and i told them i thought he'd scratched his cornia. the dr. looked at me like i was a nut case and i could tell she was thinking, yea and he could have a million other things wrong with him too. But she got the eye kit out and fired up that little black light and sure enough....big honkin' scratch right over the center of his eye. poor dude! she gave him a numbing drop but said she couldn't prescribe it for him because there was some sort of risk of something. so he has drops to prevent infection and can only take tylonal for the pain. she said the drops would keep him numb for a couple hours but then it would wear off and then it would be painful again but that it usually heals quickly. he woke up a few hours ago and was still a little fussy but much better than this a.m. i'm hoping he remains semi-pain free. i feel so bad for him. his little eyelid is red & swollen and he looks like he got stung by some evil baby insect.
so that's how we've spent our day. we were thinking of having a few people over to watch the spurs game ( and then mark got a call from his boss w/ two extra playoff tickets in their company seats which are courtside that we had to turn down) but since Parker is so fussy we figured we shouldn't have anyone over. i think mark and the kids are going to a neighbors to watch the game and i'll hang here w/ the littl eyeball poker for the night. maybe i'll have a beer and watch the game alone......or maybe i'll just sleep??? :)
