i had a picture to accompany this entry however, i am operating on 4 hours of sleep and as i was reviewing said photo on the camera i inadvertently erased the darn thing. soooooo fire up your imaginations....
good bye summer.
good bye mornings filled with the disney channel and nick jr.
good bye sibling quarrels.
good bye no groceries in the pantry because kids are home all day long and eat everything in sight.
good bye noisy afternoons.
hello mornings filled with the today show and the view.
hello sibling quarrels but only for 45 minutes while we are dressing and getting out the door.
hello plenty of sweet & salty snacks for mom when she is PMSing.
hello peace & quiet
i won't even try to convince anyone out there that i have not been counting down the days until school started.....and please, i know every single mom out there has been dreaming of this day for at least the last month. and while i am looking forward to regaining control of the house and the food in pantry it is kinda freaky to think 2 of my kids will be in school this year. hudson starts kinder while brooklyn becomes a "grader" as she calls it. i'm really nervous about hudson. he's much more introverted than brooklyn and takes a while longer to get use to things. soooo, it will be a bit harder to let him go in the a.m. but i'll be fine.... :) :) and so will he.
so in an effort to celebrate the last weekend of summer we had some heavy duty family time. :) friday night we had family movie night in the new theater. we watched escape to witch mountain....apparently a disney classic according to mark. but we all know my entire childhood was spent with my nose stuck in a nancy drew mystery novel so i must have missed this classic. we watched half on friday night....i fell asleep about 20 minutes into it. and we watched the rest on saturday morning. saturday was pretty laid back. mark had a benefit thing to do with work so we hung with the neighbors and went to dinner at outback steakhouse. today was church. then bike riding this afternoon. dinner...which the kids got to pick their favorite meal to have (yes, i was feeling generous but i also know that means spaghetti for hudson and fettuccine alfredo for brooklyn and that means easy schmeezy for mom) and after dinner we made ice cream sundae's complete with a variety of toppings...m&m's, peanut butter chips, sprinkles, strawberry & chocolate syrup and waffle bowls. yumo! we fixed them all up and then went and sat on the deck to enjoy them. the kids quickly determined we should do this every sunday. they started chanting "sundae's on sunday" really, how can you resist that? we shall see about implementing this new tradition.
so i'm heading to bed early tonight. that 6am wake up call is going to come quick......blah.
happy school days! :)
